BFL + Nursing School

Let me tell you a little something about doing Body for Life while being in nursing school. The two don't mix. They don't like each other. BFL wants to love nursing school, but nursing school treats BFL like a red headed step child. What I'm getting at is, it's hard. I have missed more than one workout. I have missed more than two workouts. I have taken two free days in a row. But I am NOT beating myself up about it. There's no room for that.

My schedule is pretty rigorous. A lot of 5 am mornings. A lot of 9:30 pm bedtimes. Between being at school all day and then studying, there's not a lot of energy left over for working out. I'm doing the best I can to eat right and some days it is really tempting to drive through Taco Bell (oh how I love thee). But, I'm making it work. And I've lost three pounds! My pants fit better already :) still too tight, but better.

Last Thursday my BFF and my BFL partner came up to Denton and we did cardio together.

If you guys have any lunch ideas, send them my way! They can be anything really. I have to pack my lunch for school and there are like three refrigerators and 8 microwaves and a whole lot of Vera Bradley up there. So help me out :) love!!

  1. haha, vera bradley! things are quite the same here in htown too.

um my ideas are super lame but they work for me:

leftovers (my favorite - so easy, just cook dinner for four and portion 2 servings on plates and two into containers), turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato on the side until lunchtime, salad with grilled chicken, fruit salad, and lots of snacks (little oranges, apples, carrots, almonds). also we have the best ice machine at our school, do y'all have one too?

  2. Here's what I do for lunch usually:
1 1/2 cup of raw broccoli and/or carrots with 2 Tbsp of hummus (try different flavors, too!) + 2 slices 98% fat-free turkey breast (for protein); 180 calories

    or

    2 slices 98% fat-free turkey breast plus 12 oz low-sodium v8 juice; 140 calories

    ----

a good afternoon snack is 1/2 oz multigrain Pita chips (~6-7) with one of the Laughing Cow LITE cheese wedges (35 calories/wedge) -- 105 calories total

  3. I can't add -- that first meal is 225 calories. 90 cal for broccoli, 75 for hummus, 60 for turkey. Sorry!

  4. I love homemade soups for easy lunches and meals that are super easy to reheat.. like a lentil veggie soup, you can google recipes for it but they can be really simple and you can control the sodium and fat by using low sodium or sodium free broth and only a tablespoon of olive oil to saute the veggies.
Since I live alone and cant eat a pot of soup by myself usually, I always freeze individual portions that I can reheat months later.

    Hope this helps!:-)
